I started drawing this style (only waaaaay worse) before I even knew of Dare. Of course he has been an inspiring source, but so has MadC, Can2, Ewok and a lot of other writers been. We all get inspired and want to try different things, I mean look at your stuff, block letters or that bubbly throw ups which has been around for decades..
haha! No seriously, I know I tend to get a little too inspired sometimes, but it's important to know that we all do that! And I know forsure if I find out that some youngsters start to draw in my style when I'm an oldtimer, thats only positive because that means they liked it and want to make it their own thing, right? I mean no harm to anyone here just to make that clear
I feel you. If I didn't want my stuff to be influenced by artists I liked I'd hafta go blind. EVERYTHING influences art. If we didn't study, emulate, and mutate to our own liking that which came before us, artistically and otherwise; how would we have learned?
And yeah; if people study/admire your work, and you can see your impact in the next generation of what you do (art or otherwise), then you were doin' it right!
btw DARE's style has a more stretched stringy feel to the letters; "melty" if you will. Your letters while flowy as hell are generally a bit more robust. Coloring styles are pretty different too...
